OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior Nikki Pierzchala had a team-high 11 kills to lead Bradley, but co-league leading Creighton was too much for the Braves, as the Bluejays topped BU 30-19, 30-24, 30-23 in Missouri Valley Conference volleyball action Saturday at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
A night after one of its best offensive outing of the season, Bradley (4-14 overall, 1-6 MVC) hit just .099 as a team, as Creighton's defense helped the Bluejays control the match. In addition to holding a 51-37 edge in digs, Creighton also outblocked the Braves 10.5 to five.
Pierzchala was the only Bradley player to record more than six kills, finishing with a team-best 11 on the night. Senior Amber DeBroux moved into 19th place on the Braves career kills list with six kills to push her career total to 711. Fellow Senior Jennifer Bohan led Bradley defensively with 11 digs.
While the Braves struggled offensively, Creighton (14-4 overall, 6-1 MVC) boasted a .323 hitting percentage, hitting .350 or better in both of the first two games. Kelly Goc and Amanda Cvejdlik tied for match-high honors with 20 kills each as the duo combined for 40 of the Bluejays 59 kills and hit at a .431 clip (40 kills - 9 errors - 72 attacks). Three Creighton players finished with 10 or more digs, with Abby Baumann pacing the Bluejays with 15 digs.
Bradley will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule Tuesday with a road match at Illinois-Chicago at 7 p.m.
