HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. ? Illinois guard Chester Frazier posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists and was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2006 Chicago Invitational Challenge after leading the Illini (7-0) to a 75-71, come-from-behind win versus Bradley (5-1) in the championship game Saturday night at the Sears Centre.

The Illinois front line combination of Warren Carter (17 points, eight rebounds) and Shaun Pruitt (16, 9) combined for 33 points and 17 rebounds against Bradley's much smaller lineup.  The Illini also got a lift from Peoria Richwoods High School product Jamar Smith, who was questionable for the game with an ankle injury, but scored 14 points off the bench.

Bradley was led by Will Franklin's 17 points and eight rebounds, while point guard Daniel Ruffin scored 16 points and dished out six assists.  Jeremy Crouch added 12 points and J.J. Tauai completed the double-digit scoring with 10 points.  Crouch and Franklin both were named to the all-tournament team.

Once again benefiting from some sharp shooting from the perimeter, Bradley twice grabbed 11-point leads in the first half.  A Franklin 3-pointer gave the Braves a 29-18 lead with 6:39 left in the first and a Matt Salley layup put Bradley up 34-23 with 3:53 left in the period.

With the 6-foot-7 Salley and starting center Zach Andrews both battling foul trouble, however, the Illini appeared to wear the Braves down and eventually took the lead, 58-57, on a Smith trey with 5:44 left in the game.  Illinois built its lead to as many as seven, 72-65, with 27 seconds left, and made enough free throws to hold of a late Bradley rally.

The loss ends Bradley's 10-game regular-season winning streak, which was tied for the fifth longest in the country entering the game.

The Braves will return to action Wednesday by visiting Tennessee Tech in their first true road game of the season.
