FALLBROOK, Calif. -- The Bradley men's golf team turned in a third-round score of 310 to hold onto 12th place at the Pala Mesa Invitational at the Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook, Calif., Tuesday. The Braves finished with a three-round score 934 to finish 19 shots behind Irvine Valley College for 11th.
Junior Ryan Saurs shot the low round of the day for the Braves with a 75 and tied for 51st place overall at 234. Fellow junior Scott Phegley was Bradley's top finisher, firing a 77 to finish tied for 42nd overall at 230. Freshman Kyle Shay tied for 54th in the individual standing, one shot behind Saurs at 235 after shooting final round 81. Senior Craig Tautges carded a 79 for the third consecutive round to tie for 57th place at 237, while Brad Molitor rounded out the scoring with a final round 79 as well to place 70th at 257.
UCLA won the team title with a three-round score of 855. Oklahoma Christian placed second with a score of 868 to pass Cal State San Marcos in the final day. San Marcos was third overall with a total of 871. Northeastern State was fourth at 882, while San Diego State and Arizona both tied for fifth place at 885.
Western Illinois finished seventh with a score of 892, with tournament-host Drake placing eighth overall at 899. Loyola College checked in at ninth with a 902, while Army (10th - 905), Irvine Valley College (11th - 915), Bradley (12th - 934), Binghamton (13th - 942) and Creighton (14th - 986) rounded out the field, respectively.
Bradley returns to action March 13-14 at the North-South Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Fla.
