Charleston, Ill. ? Junior Jennifer Jenkins (Calumet City, Ill./Thornwood) broke her own school record in the 20 lb. weight throw, Sarah Westrick (Livonia, Mich./Winston Churchill) grabbed a third place and junior Maya Monitto-Webber set two season-best marks as the Braves finished in fifth place at the Friday Night Special Meet at Eastern Illinois.
Jenkins bettered her previous best toss in the weight throw by a full two feet, hurling the weight 59'09.75” in her fourth place effort. The junior wasn't finished as she tallied a season-high in the shot put as well with a 38'06.75” effort, good for 10th place.
Sarah Westrick took the top Braves' placing on the evening with her third place run in the women's mile. Westrick shaved better than seven seconds off her previous best and was less than a second back of second in 5:20.12.
Junior Marcia Backstrom (Minonk, Ill./Fieldcrest) took fifth in the women's mile with a run of 5:22.17 to lower her season-best as well.
Maya Monitto-Webber ran season-bests in the 60 meter hurdles and the 60 meter dash on her way to sixth and 11th place finishes respectively. Monitto-Webber clocked in at 9.46 in the hurdle and 8.33 in the dash.
Other personal bests for the Braves were put in by freshmen Stefanie Luce (Burr Ridge, Ill./Lyons Township) in the 400 meters (1:03.79, 5th place), Jessica Puckett (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) in the 200 meters (27.98, 11th), Jessica Holloway (Paris, Ill./Paris) in the long jump (15'06”, 7th) and Trish Martens (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) in the triple jump (32'07.75”, 5th).
Bradley returns to the track next weekend for the MVC Indoor Championships at Northern Iowa.
