Box Score 2 MARTIN, Tenn. -- Bradley senior pitcher Brandon Magee tossed a complete-game six-hitter and sophomore Peter Malinowski hit a pinch-hit grand slam, leading the Braves to a 7-2 victory at Tennessee-Martin in the first game of a double-header Saturday afternoon. The Skyhawks earned a split by scoring three unearned runs in their final at-bat for a 4-3 win in the nightcap.
An honorable mention All-Missouri Valley Conference peformer last season after leading the Braves with seven wins, Magee scattered six hits in his 7-inning complete game Saturday. The lanky right-hander struck out eight and surrendered only one base on balls. Malinowski provided the offensive spark, breaking a 2-2 tie with two outs in the fifth inning with his pinch hit grand slam.
Collin Walker, Bradley's senior right-hander who earned first-team All-MVC notice last fall, took a no-decision in the nightcap. Walker allowed only five hits in 6 1/3 innings of work and left the game with the lead. Three Bradley errors in the bottom of the seventh, however, allowed the Skyhawks to rally off of Braves reliever Peter Elmer (0-1).
The teams will conclude their 3-game series with a single game Sunday afternoon at one o'clock.
