BRADENTON, Fla. -- Senior right-hander Brandon Magee struck out a career-high 14 batters in eight innings of work and junior Paul Rice went 3-for-5 at the plate with and RBI and a run scored as the Braves (4-6) prevailed, 3-2, in 12 innings over Eastern Kentucky (6-6) Monday afternoon at the IMG Sports Academy.

The Braves jumped in front in the bottom of the first when junior second baseman Ryan Curry (Downers Grove, Ill./South) singled home junior designated hitter Pat Ryerson (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) from second after a one-out double off Eastern Kentucky starter Eric Hash.

The Colonels scratched across the tying run in the top of the fourth on an RBI groundout by first baseman Charlie Yarbrough before Magee recorded nine strikeouts in the next 10 Bradley putouts.

Magee would give way to southpaw Peter Elmer (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) after scattering seven hits over his eight innings of work while walking just two hitters in the shadows of his career-best strikeout total. The Bradley starter would get a no-decision despite the dominating performance as the Braves couldn't push across another run until the 10th.

In the top half of the 10th inning with the scored tied at one, the Colonels capitalized on of a pair of Bradley errors. Leadoff man Lucas Waters reached on a Paul Rice throwing error, promptly stole second base and came around to score on a Brad Jones error in centerfield.

The Braves would answer the unearned run and Paul Rice would atone for his error when the All-MVC performer scored on a Ryan Eigsti (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) double with one out in the 10th after being hit by an Eastern Kentucky reliever Greg Harper pitch.

After a scoreless 11th inning, the Braves' standout third baseman would deliver again. After freshman John Lequia (Racine, Wis./Washington Park) lead off with his second double of the year, the Colonels intentionally passed Ryan Curry to first base - taking a gamble and pitching to Paul Rice. Rice made Eastern Kentucky pay with the game-winning RBI on his second double of the game.

Elmer picked up the win for the Braves and evens his record at 1-1 on the season.

The Braves are back in action at the IMG Sports Academy Tuesday when they face the Indiana Hoosiers out of the Big Ten Conference at 9 a.m.
