Peoria, Ill. ? Freshman right-hander Collin Brennan (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville) turned in the best performance of his young Bradley career on Sunday when hit tossed his first career complete game shutout in a three-hit gem to clinch the series over the visiting Creighton Bluejays, 3-0.

Brennan (2-0) was spectacular for the Braves, facing just three hitters over the minimum while striking out six and dropping his pre-game ERA nearly three points.

The 6-6 starter found himself in just one jam all day long.  The Jays' John Nowaczyk lead off the seventh with his second single of the day out of the number two hole and was followed by a walk to John Daeges, the hard-hitting lefty third baseman.  Brennan proved it was his day when he got Chris Gradoville, the MVC leader in home runs and RBIs, to fly to center for the first out, then proceeded to get an infield pop up and a lazy fly ball to left field to end the inning.

With Brennan in control on the hill, the Braves offense got what it needed courtesy of the Creighton defense.

The Braves (9-9, 2-1 MVC) scored thrice in the third behind two fielding gaffs from the Jays.

Sophomore Peter Malinowski (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway South) lead off the inning with a sharp single to left and moved up to second on a one-out infield hit by junior centerfielder Brad Jones (Potomac, Md./Landon School).  Brock Luxmore hit what looked to be an inning ending, tailor-made double play ball that Creighton's all-conference third baseman Zach Daeges promptly threw into right field, allowing Malinowski to score the game's first run.

The Braves caught another break in the next at bat when Ross Sinclair couldn't squeeze Ryan Curry's (Downers Grove, Ill./South) foul down the right field line.  On the very next pitch, Curry hit a long fly to right center to score Jones from third.  A Paul Rice (Beardstown, Ill./Beardstown) double to left-center drove in Luxmore with the third unearned run of the inning and gave Brennan all he needed.

Freshman Dan Brewer, making the start at second base, extended his hitting streak to eight games with a 2-for-3 effort that raised his average to .368 on the year ? tops on the team.

Ben Macuso, the younger brother of former Bradley softball player Sarah Mancuso was the tough-luck loser for Creighton.

With the win, the Braves take their first series win over Creighton since a 2-1 series win in 2003.  The win moves Bradley to 9-9 overall, 2-1 in MVC play.

Up next, the Braves hit the road for a Tuesday double-header at Northern Illinois before heading to Carbondale, Ill. for a weekend set with the Salukis.
