St. Louis ? Fresh off Sunday's dominating performance in the series-clinching win over Creighton, freshman right-hander Collin Brennan (Williamsville, Ill./Williamsville) was named Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week in an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.

The freshman right-hander turned in a solid performance in his first trip to the mound as a starter, tossing his first career complete game shutout in a three-hit gem to clinch the series over the visiting Creighton Bluejays, 3-0.

Brennan faced just three hitters over the minimum while striking out six and dropping his pre-game ERA nearly three points.

The 6-6 starter found himself in just one jam all day long. With runners on first and second, Brennan got Chris Gradoville, the MVC leader in home runs and RBIs, to fly to center for the first out of the inning, then proceeded to get an infield pop up and a lazy fly ball to left field to end the inning.

The win evened the Braves' overall record at 9-9 and pushed their Valley mark to 2-1 after the first weekend of league action.

The Braves hit the road this week for a Tuesday double-header at Northern Illinois before heading to Carbondale, Ill. for a weekend set with the Salukis.
