Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. (from Belmont SID Staff) ? The baseball Bruins (7-4) decided to take it upon themselves to finish off the weekend with a bang, sweeping Bradley (2-6) in a double-header to take the weekend series, four games to none. Starters Ryan Ashner and Carlo Testa each earned their first wins at Belmont in the games. Belmont won the first game by a score of 6-3, and the second seven-inning affair, 12-0.
Belmont rallied from two runs down in the second inning to tie the game. After a single and stolen base, Matt Warnat advanced the third on a flyout to right field and then scored on a balk. The Bruins scored again when Brady Manifold reached first on an error by the third baseman, allowing Carlo Testa to score. Testa reached via a walk, and also stole second base.
The Bruins took their first lead of the day in the third inning. Wilson Tucker led off with a double down the left-field line, and clean-up hitter Derek Wiley then drove him in with another double to left.
Matt Reynolds pounded his first homerun of the season in the fourth inning to left field, and batted 3-for-4 in the game, scoring two runs. After allowing Bradley to climb back within a run in the fifth, Belmont added another run when Kane Simmons hit a sac fly to allow Wilson Tucker to cross the plate for a second time in the game.
The Bruins finished the game by scoring in each of the last five innings of the game. Ryan Ashner pitched into the sixth inning, allowing three runs on eight hits, with three strikeouts. The win was his first of the season. Chris Manning entered the game in a save situation and pitched the final inning and a third to collect his second save of the season. He allowed two hits and a walk, but did not allow any runners to cross the plate.
Lefty Carlo Testa got the starting nod from Jarvis for the second game. After allowing a lead-off double, Testa settled down and allowed just two hits while fanning 10 batters. Three runners advanced to third, but he allowed no runs in his first Belmont start. Eric Diaz came on in relief in the sixth inning, allowing just one hit. Freshman Wes Alsup pitched the seventh for the Bruins, and completed the seven-inning shutout for Belmont. It was the third shutout of the series.
Belmont put up runs in their sixth consecutive inning during their first at-bats in the second game. Matt Reynolds led off with a single, followed by a single from Ben Petsch. Wilson Tucker then walked, and the following three batters each recorded an RBI.
The hits kept coming in the second inning, as Jon Camp led off the inning with a ground-rule double to right-center. Camp was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice. Ben Petsch singled past the third baseman and scored on a Wilson Tucker triple. Tucker had two triples in the double-header.
