Box Score PEORIA, Ill. (April 5, 2006) ? Bradley freshman infielder Dan Brewer continued his hot hitting by going 3-for-3, but the Braves (11-13) gave him little offensive help in the first game of a split doubleheader Wednesday. Illinois-Chicago (12-11) won its sixth consecutive game by cruising to an 11-0 decision in the first half of the twinbill at O'Brien Field.
Bradley will play Saint Louis in the second game of the doubleheader, making up for a snowout earlier this season.
The Flames got all the offense they needed in their first at bat, plating three first-inning runs off Bradley starter Rob Scahill (1-4). Illinois-Chicago scored the first run on Scahill's first five pitches, getting consecutive singles by the first two hitters, followed by an RBI groundout by Ted Rosinski.
It appeared Scahill would get out of the inning without anymore damage, but a two-out grounder through the legs of shortstop Ryan Curry allowed a pair of unearned runs to score.
Illinois-Chicago tacked on single runs in the third and fourth innings, then broke the game open by scoring two more in the seventh and four in the eighth, invoking a 10-run rule.
Brewer's perfect day upped his season batting average to .395, but the rest of the lineup managed only two more hits as the Flames outhit Bradley, 12-5.
