(JULY 9, 2006) -- A pair of former Bradley men's basketball players were in action this weekend in different NBA summer pro leagues. Center Patrick O'Bryant played his second game for Golden State at the Toshiba Vegas Summer League Saturday, while forward Marcellus Sommerville made his professional debut Sunday for the Dallas Mavericks entry in the Southern California Summer Pro League.
Sommerville had 12 points, two rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot and a steal in Sunday's 97-69 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The starting "2" guard for the Mavericks, the 6-foot-7 Sommerville played 32 minutes, draining 4-of-11 field goal attempts and 4-of-5 free throw attempts.
The Mavericks are one of four NBA teams fielding a squad for the Southern California Summer Pro League, which will continue through July 19 at The Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State University. Sommerville's Dallas team has four games remaining and will return to action Monday versus Memphis. The Mavericks also will play Wednesday in a rematch against the Lakers, Thursday versus the Grizzlies and July 15 against Washington.
In O'Bryant second game in Las Vegas, the 7-foot center had eight points, a rebound and a blocked shot while helping the Warriors (1-1) even their record in a 92-85 win against the Los Angeles Clippers. Peoria high alum Shaun Livingston had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Clippers, but also committed eight turnovers in the loss.
The Warrios had Sunday off and will return to action Monday with a 2 p.m. (CST) game against Cleveland. Monday's game will be televised July 13 at 6 p.m. (CST) on NBA TV.
