July 5, 2006 -- Bradley freshman pitcher Rob Scahill, who currently pitches for the Allegany County Nitros, has been selected to the New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Team and he will suit up as a member of the West team Thursday night in Watertown, N.Y.
Scahill owns a 1-1 record with a 1.83 earned run average in his five starts this summer. He has allowed only nine runs (seven earned) in his team-leading 34.1 innings pitched. This past spring, Scahill worked primarily as a midweek starter for the Braves, finishing with a 3-6 record and a 4.31 earned run average.
Scahill is one of 15 players on the 2006 Bradley Baseball team currently playing in summer leagues around the country.
On the summer soccer circuit, Drew DeGurian helped the Chicago Fire Premier (10-1-0, 30 points) maintain its position atop the Premier Development League Great Lakes Division standings by playing all 90 minutes in two of the team's three games in the past week. Playing in the back, the Bradley junior played all 90 minutes in Wednesday's 3-1 home win versus Fort Wayne. After resting Friday versus Thunder Bay, DeGurian returned to action Saturday and played all 90 minutes in the 5-0 victory versus Cleveland. DeGurian is one of seven Braves playing in the PDL this summer.
