The Braves (7-11 overall, 3-4 MVC) led by as many as nine points in the first half and held a 40-32 lead at the break. Bradley extended its lead to as many as 15 points on an Amy Peters jumper with 10:26 to play before the Bears came roaring back. Breton Wyett scored eight of her team-high 21 points to help highlight a 14-2 Missouri State run that pulled the Bears to within three points with just over seven minutes remaining.
The lead was cut to two points (70-68) with 3:28 on the clock after a Wyett free throw, before Flanagan answered with a basket at 3:12 to make it a two-possession game. Missouri State went 0-for-2 with two turnovers on its next three possessions and was forced to foul in the final 1:15 of play. The Braves made four of eight free throws in the final 75 seconds, but Missouri State failed to capitalize, missing on each of their last four shots during that span as Bradley improved to 2-3 in Missouri Valley Conference road games with the 76-68 victory.
Flanagan led all scorers and matched a career-high with 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting. She also added team highs of 10 rebounds and five assists, as she was one of four Bradley players in double figures. Senior Amy Peters, who had hit six three-pointers on the season entering the game, made four of six three-pointers and finished with 18 points, seven boards and four assists.
Senior Erika Nelson followed up her career-high 31-point effort at Wichita State, with 12 points and guard Jen Brown was also in double digits with 10 points in addition to her four steals and three assists. Brown became the third player in program history to record 400 assists in a career. Brown's biggest contribution of the afternoon may have been on the defensive end as she helped limit the MVC's leading scorer Tahnee Balerio to just six points on 3-of-11 shooting.
Missouri State (6-10 overall, 2-5 MVC) managed to stay in the game due to its post play and the Braves frontcourt battled foul trouble throughout the contest. Bradley committed 13 fouls in the first half of play with Nelson, Kelly Krumwiede, Ashley Chelleen and Jasmin Wright each picking up two fouls, while Chasity Cotton was whistled for three fouls in the opening half. The Bears made each of their 16 first-half free throw attempts.
The Braves foul troubles continued in the second half, but Missouri State made just 6-of-12 free throw attempts. Bradley connected on a season-high 11 three-pointers and shot 40.7 percent (11-for-27) from beyond the arc, while matching a season-low with 10 turnovers. Bradley victory was its second in its last four road games against Missouri State.
