Box Score CARBONDALE, Ill. ? Junior Katrina Goncher (Batavia, Ill./Aurora Rosary) had 10 kills and six blocks to highlight a four-game loss at Southern Illinois, Friday for the Bradley volleyball team. Game scores in favor of the Braves were 15-30, 30-24, 20-30, 15-30.
Bradley (3-25 overall, 2-13 MVC) hit .028 in the match, tallying 38 kills compared to 34 attacking errors. Goncher paced the Braves offensively with her 10 kills, while senior Jenna Harrison (Edwardsville, Ill./Metro East Lutheran) added nine kills and had a team-best hitting percentage of .250.
Southern Illinois (14-13 overall, 6-9 MVC) dominated play at the net, posting 22 blocks in the four games, while serving up 11 aces. The Salukis also boasted a .228 hitting percentage and had a 64-54 edge in digs.
The loss eliminated the Braves from the upcoming State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Springfield, Mo.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Comiskey (Crystal Lake, Ill./South) had a team-high 15 digs to push her season total to 429. Comiskey's 429 digs on the year is tied for the fifth best season total in school history. Junior setter Sam Black (Atalissa, Iowa/West Liberty) also reached a milestone, posting 31 assists to pass Carrie Brigman for ninth place on Bradley's career assist list. Black now has 1,733 assists and is 349 assists from passing Trish Jording for eighth in program history.
Marina Medic and Kelsie Laughlin tied for match-high honors with 13 kills each to lead Southern Illinois. Laughlin added 16 digs, while Medic tallied 13 blocks (three solo and 10 block assists. Setter Brooklyn Robbins added eight kills, 48 assists and five aces.
Bradley plays its final road match of the season Saturday when the Braves face Evansville at 7 p.m. in Evansville, Ind.
