PEORIA, Ill. ?
Senior guard
Jeremy Crouch (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Crouch averaged 23.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals while leading the Bradley men's basketball team to a pair of wins last week.
Crouch shot 65.2 percent (15-for-23) from the field and drained an impressive 75 percent of his three-point attempts (12-for-16) in the two games. He was the Braves top scorer in both games last week, scoring 21 points on 5-of-7 long-range shooting in Wednesday's 64-47 win at Loyola-Chicago. Crouch followed with a 25-point effort on 7-of-9 three-point shooting in Saturday's 90-72 win against Southeast Missouri State.
In addition to tying his career-best with seven three-pointers against SEMO, Crouch equaled his career mark with four steals against the Redhawks.
The MVC Player of the Week honor is the first for a Bradley player since Will Franklin earned the award in December of 2006. It also marked the second time that Crouch has earned MVC Player of the Week honors in his career, also garnering the honor on Nov. 13, 2006.
Crouch and the Braves return to action Tuesday when they play host to 10th-ranked Michigan State at 8:05 p.m. at Carver Arena. The game against the Spartans will be televised on ESPNU. Michigan State is the highest ranked team to visit Carver Arena and the first top 10 team to play in Peoria, Ill., since Bradley defeated #8 Tulsa, 82-79 in overtime, in the last regular-season game at Robertson Field House on Feb. 27, 1982.
