Chris Cutshaw (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Tuesday, after scoring a pair of goals to help the Bradley soccer team upset 19th-ranked Maryland in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
Cutshaw scored the tying goal with less than one minute left in regulation, helping Bradley erase a 2-0 deficit with less than three minutes to play and force overtime. He added another goal in double overtime, heading in the game-winning goal with 75 seconds remaining in the second overtime to send the Braves to the Elite Eight. An international business major, Cutshaw owns a 3.00 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Cutshaw and the Braves will face 10th-ranked Ohio State Sunday at noon in Columbus, Ohio, in the NCAA quarterfinals. Reservations for the fan buses can be made through the Bradley Athletics Ticket Office (309) 677-2625.
