PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore infielder Alycia Bachkora (Overland Park, Kan./Notre Dame de Sion) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Tursday, after hitting .357 last week and helping the Bradley softball team to the tournament title at the Schutt Showcase at the Dragon's Dome in Pekin, Ill.

Bachkora, who entered the week with six career hits and just one extra-base hit, went 5-for-14 (.357) at the plate with two doubles, one triple, one homer, six RBI and five runs scored as she helped the Braves to a perfect 4-0 record at the Schutt Showcase. She finished a single short of the cycle in Bradley's 8-3 victory against IUPUI and finished with a double, triple, homer, three runs scored and two RBI. She followed that with a 2-for-3 effort with a double, two runs and four RBI to help highlight a 10-2 win against IUPUI. For the week she had an .857 slugging percentage and also owned a .438 on base percentage. A cell and molecular biology major, Bachkora owns a 3.60 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Bachkora and the Braves are back in action this weekend at the Red and Black Cardinal Tournament in Louisville, Ky. Bradley will face Western Kentucky Friday at 2 p.m. and will also play Akron and Louisville during tournament action.
