PEORIA, Ill. ? Freshman Amanda Clack and sophomore Miriam Wegmann both connected on two-run homers, but it wasn't enough to lead the Bradley softball team to victory as Wichita State completed the series sweep with a 13-4 victory in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Laura Bradley Park.

The Braves (22-18 overall, 5-12 MVC) entered the game with a 16-1 record when scoring first in games and jumped out to an early lead when Clack connected on a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. Wegmann had a two-single and Clack followed with her third home run of the season to give Bradley the early 2-0 lead.

Wichita State (30-25 overall, 14-7 MVC) would push two runs across in the top of the second inning to tie the game at 2-2. With runners at second and third and one out, Kara L'Huillier lifted a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Lisa Jones with the Shockers first run of the game. Wichita State had runners at first and third with two outs when Katie McGeeney had an infield single. Senior Elizabeth Wilson fielded the ball and fired a strike to the plate in time to cut down the runner from third, but Erin Peters knocked the ball loose on her slide into the plate, helping the Shockers tie the game at 2-2.

The Shockers took the lead in the top of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of McGeeney, which scored Stephanie DeLaRiva from third base.

Wichita State added another run in the top of the fifth inning on a one-out solo homer by Cynthia Verhulst and exploded for seven runs in the top of the sixth, pushing it's lead to 11-2. L'Huillier had a one-out solo homer to score the first run of the inning. Verhulst was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Jones followed with a bloop single down the right field line that scored two runs. Peters belted a double to center field that scored two more runs and a Bradley error led to the seventh and final run of the frame.

Senior Christine Cooney led off the bottom of the sixth inning for the Braves first hit since Clack's two-run homer in the first inning. Wegmann followed with her first career home run to left, cutting the Shockers lead to 11-4.

McGeeney ripped a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to give Wichita State a 13-4 lead and Margo Pruis retired the final six batters she faced after giving up the home run to Wegmann to help the Shockers to the win. Pruis (19-11) gave up four hits, four walks and four earned runs while striking out eight.

Sophomore Ashley Birdsong took the loss for the Braves, falling to 16-11 on the year. Birdsong struck out four and walked one in five and one-third innings of work. She surrendered eight hits and five runs (four earned) in the loss.

Bradley returns to action Wednesday with a 4 p.m. single game at Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
