SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- In a matchup of the two hottest teams in the Missouri Valley Conference, #25 Creighton (42-13) made its path through the 2007 MVC Tournament bracket much easier by blanking Bradley (31-20), 2-0, in the final game of the second round Thursday night at Hammons Field.

The Bluejays, who have won 23 of their last 25 games, are now the only undefeated team remaining in the tournament field and advance to Friday's 7 p.m. game against the winner of the day's first elimination contest, a noon matchup between the Braves and host Missouri State (23-33).  Bradley had won 16 of its previous 20 games since suffering a 3-game sweep at the hands of Creighton April 13-15 in Omaha.

Creighton starter Zak Moore (5-1) outdueled Bradley hurler Chris Wright (4-2) Friday, blanking the Braves on two hits in his 8.0 innings before turning the game over to Bluejay closer Andy Masten for the ninth.  Masten earned his league-leading 16th save of the year by retiring the Braves in order.  Bradley's two hits, by Jason Acevedo in the third and Paul Rice in the fourth, were a season-low and the final 16 Braves went down in order.  Wright allowed only five hits in his first career complete-game for the Braves, but came out on the short end of his second tough-luck decision against the Bluejays this year.  His only other loss as a Brave came as a result of the 3-2 defeat April 15 at Creighton.

With both Wright and Moore cruising early in the game, Bradley had the first opportunity to score, but came up empty in the third.   Acevedo got the game's first hit with a one-out single in the top of the third and Brad Jones moved him to second with his school season-record 14th sacrifice, but Dan Brewer grounded out to end the threat.

Creighton had a similar situation in the bottom of the third after Michael Lam got the first hit for the Bluejays with a two-out double.  Robbie Knight followed with a walk, but Bradley third baseman Paul Rice kept Creighton off the board by making a diving stop toward the line on Ross Sinclair's sharp grounder, robbing him of a sure double, then diving again into third base to beat Lam for the inning-ending force out.

Rice then led off the fourth with a line drive single to center field that Knight misplayed, allowing him to advance to second with no outs.  The potential scoring opportunity disappeared one hitter later, however, when Rice ran into the tag on Ryan Curry's grounder to third, resulting in a double play.  Curry ended the game 0-for-3 against Moore, ending his career-best 21-game hitting streak, which began after another 0-for-3 outing against Moore April 14 at Creighton.  Moore also snapped Justin Carr's career-best 10-game hitting streak Thursday night, keeping him off the bases in three at-bats.

Creighton put runners at first and second with one out in the fiffth and finally broke through for the game's first run on a Rice throwing error.  Lam hit a slow roller to third, but after charging the ball, Rice threw wildly to first, allowing Chad Ogden to score from second.  Lam tacked on a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning to complete the scoring.
