A native Peorian, Fahrner transferred to Bradley from Illinois Central College for the 1999 season and earned first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors during that one season with the Braves. Showcasing a tremendous curveball that allowed him to lead The Valley in strikeouts during his junior season, Fahrner began his pro career after being selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 1999 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. He has reached Double A with the Oakland As, Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays organizations and is now pitching for the Bridgeport (Conn.) Bluefish in the independent Atlantic League under the tutelage of former Major League pitcher Tommy John.
