PEORIA, Ill. -- October is breast cancer awareness month and the Bradley volleyball team will help do its part with a Dig for the Cure night when the Braves host I-74 rival Illinois State Thursday, Oct. 23 at Lorene Ramsey Gym in East Peoria, Ill.

Breast cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers among women in the United States. Throughout the month of October, the Braves will be counting each individual and team dig to help raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Fans are encouraged to pledge money per dig during the month of October for their favorite Bradley player or for the team as a whole. Individuals interested in participating can also pledge a flat amount. For more information or to make a pledge please contact assistant coach Genoa Moxley at 677-2683 or gmoxley@bradley.edu

"Our program is very excited to be able to hold the first of hopefully many annual Dig for the Cure events here at Bradley," first-year Bradley volleyball head coach Sean Burdette said. "I cannot think of a better opponent than Illinois State to have for our Dig for the Cure match. I believe between the community support, the two schools and our athletic departments we will make this a fantastic event to draw awareness and raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation."

The Braves will be wearing pink warm-ups prior to the Oct. 23 home match against Illinois State and ask that all fans wear pink to the match. Bradley will be collecting money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation at all home matches during the month of October for and have already raised $700 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
