Emily Austin (St. Louis, Mo./Oakville) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday, earning the honor for the second consecutive week.
Austin tied for team-high honors with a 2.83 kills per set average and boasted a team-best .343 attack percentage in a pair of road matches last week. She tallied a team-best 11 kills and hit .318 in the Braves loss at Evansville. Austin capped the week with a six-kill effort at Southern Illinois. She committed just one attack error against the Salukis and boasted a .385 hitting percentage, while also collecting two digs and one block in the match. A nursing major, Austin owns a 3.39 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Austin and the Braves return to action Saturday when the Braves play host to Northern Iowa at 7 p.m. at the Markin Family Student Recreation Center.
