PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior outfielder Colby Luttrell (Kincaid, Ill./South Fork) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday, after helping the Bradley baseball team to a 3-1 record last week.

Luttrell hit .389 (7-18) with 11 runs batted in during the week, as he helped the Braves to a three-game road sweep of Missouri Valley Conference foe Southern Illinois. Including his three runs, he accounted for 13 of Bradley's 24 runs scored in the three games against the Salukis. In the series opener at SIU, Luttrell's three-run homer in the 10th inning broke a 3-3 tie and sparked Bradley to a 7-3 victory. He added an RBI single in the first inning of Saturday's 4-3 victory and later added a single in the eighth inning. Luttrell capped the week with a career day, going 3-for-6 with six RBI's in Sunday's 11-6 win. A psychology major, Luttrell owns a 3.22 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Luttrell and the Braves return to action Friday when they open a three-game Valley series against Missouri State with a 6 p.m. game at O'Brien Field. The series continues with a 2 p.m. game Saturday and concludes Sunday with a 1 p.m. contest.
