DES MOINES, Iowa ? Drake starting pitcher Brynne Dordel allowed just one hit over seven innings, tossing a complete game one-hitter to help the host Bulldogs defeat Bradley, 2-0, in Des Moines Sunday afternoon. The win gives Drake a three-game sweep of the Braves.

The Bulldogs struck first for a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Catcher Carrie Hatfield collected an RBI single, driving home Elena Leon from third. Leon started the inning with a single, moving to third after a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch.

The lone BU hit came in the top of the third inning on junior Miriam Wegmann's (St. Louis, Mo./Oakville H.S.) sixth double of the season. The Braves did strand five baserunners in the contest, including two in the top of sixth after Wegmann and junior Alycia Bachkora (Overland Park, Kan./Notre Dame de Sion H.S.) drew walks in the inning but were stranded after a Lauren Meister (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South H.S.) groundout ended the threat.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the hosts tacked on an insurance run in the form of a sacrifice fielder's choice from Leon that scored Bridget Shields for a 2-0 lead.

Junior pitcher Ashley Birdsong (Otis, Ore./Taft H.S.) pitched well for the Braves but took the loss to fall to 8-14 on the year. She struck out six and walked none over six innings. Dordel improved to 14-7 with the victory.

The Braves have now lost 12 games in a row to fall to 11-22 on the season. BU will return to the diamond with a non-conference doubleheader at Western Illinois Tuesday at 3 p.m. Missouri Valley Conference play resumes Saturday, April 26, when Evansville comes to Laura Bradley Park for the start of a three-game set.
