Colby Luttrell (Kincaid, Ill./South Fork) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Thursday, after helping the Bradley baseball team to a 3-2 record last week.
Luttrell hit an impressive .632 last week, going 12-for-19 with three doubles, five RBI and two runs scored. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch to finish the week with a .667 on base percentage in the five games. Luttrell opened the week with a 4-for-5 effort with a run scored and two runs batted in during a double header sweep of Valparaiso. Over the weekend, Luttrell was 8-for-14 at the plate during the Braves series at I-74 rival Illinois State. A psychology major, Luttrell owns a 3.22 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Luttrell and the Braves return to action Friday when they open a three-game Valley home series against Northern Iowa with a 7 p.m. game at O'Brien Field.
