PEORIA, Ill. -- The price was not exactly right, but it was close enough for Bradley senior baseball player Adam Kimble (Minooka, Ill./Minooka H.S.).  In an episode of the long-running game show The Price Is Right that was taped June 23 and aired this morning, Kimble won the show's climactic “Showcase.”

While making his annual trip to California with his family to visit his brother, Andrew, Adam and his mother, Mary Kimble, got tickets for The Price Is Right and arrived at the studio at 4 a.m. for the 1 p.m. taping.  Wearing a Bradley Baseball t-shirt, Adam advanced through the screening process and he and his mother were selected for the approximate 300-person studio audience.  Adam then was the second player selected for show's opening Contestants Row.

In a remarkable coincidence, the seventh audience member selected for Contestants Row was Rev. James W. Sichko, who is the pastor at St. Mark Parish in Richmond, Ky., where new Bradley Baseball coach Elvis Dominguez and his family are members.  Prior to being named Bradley's 15th baseball head coach last week, Dominguez was the head coach at Eastern Kentucky the previous seven years.

Kimble advanced from Contestants Row in the fourth round by bidding $800 for a luggage set priced at $920.  Although he lost his game of “Freeze Frame” for a trip to Athens, Greece, Kimble won the “Showcase Showdown” with a two-spin total of $0.95 to to become the second of two finalists in the game-ending Showcase.  Presented a package of kitchen appliances, a 63-inch plasma television and a week-long trip for two to Tokyo, Japan, Kimble won with a bid of $15,500 for the package priced at $17,228.

Kimble has been used primarily as a utility player for the Braves during his first three seasons, appearing in 73 games, often as a pinch-hitter or defensive replacement at catcher or first base.  Off the field, Kimble has excelled in the classroom:  majoring in communications (electronic media), Kimble has earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll during each of his first six semesters and the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll in his first three years.  A member of the Braves Council, Bradley's student-athlete advisory board, this past year, he will serve as board president during the 2008-09 academic year.
