PEORIA, Ill. -- First-year head coach Elvis Dominguez has announced the schedule for the 2008 Bradley Baseball Alumni Weekend Sept. 26-28 and the former Braves will have plenty of activities to fill their visit, highlighted by a tribute brunch in honor of retired head coach Dewey Kalmer.

The weekend schedule will begin with a noon golf outing Sept. 26 at Newman Golf Course near the Bradley campus, which will cost $75 per golferActivities Saturday, Sept. 27, will take place at O'Brien Field and will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a Home Run Hitting Contest.  The annual Alumni Baseball game, which will pit the former Braves against the 2009 Bradley squad, is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch and will be followed by a cookout for the participants and families.  The Home Run Hitting Contest and Alumni Game are open to the public with free admission.

The featured event of the 2009 Bradley Baseball Alumni Weekend will be the Dewey Kalmer Tribute Brunch, beginning at 11 a.m. Sept. 28 in the Bradley University Michel Student Center Ballroom.  Several former players and coaches, as well as Bradley University dignitaries, will take part in the tribute program.  Attendees also will have the opportunity to record video messages for Kalmer.  The brunch is open to the public and the cost is $30 for adults and $15 for children.

Kalmer retired in June as the winningest coach in Bradley Athletics history.  Following 11 years leading the baseball program at his alma mater, Quincy College, Kalmer took over the helm of the Bradley Baseball program in 1980 and directed the Braves to 842 wins in 29 seasons.  His 40-year combined record at Quincy and Bradley left Kalmer with 1,032 career victories.

Proceeds from both the golf outing and Dewey Kalmer Tribute Brunch will benefit Bradley Baseball.  Reservations are required for both activities and should be submitted to the Bradley Baseball Office by Sept. 22.  Both an online registration form and a PDF version of the form are linked to this article.
