EVANSVILLE, Ind.. ? Bradley freshman forward Bryan Gaul (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) ended Bradley's scoreless streak at 368-minutes, 34-seconds with a goal in the 47th minute, helping Bradley to a 2-0 victory over North Florida Sunday morning at the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic in Evansville, Ind.

The Braves broke a scoreless tie when a corner kick from Gaul bended directly past North Florida goalkeeper Tony Restino into the net. The tally was Gaul's second of the season. Gaul's strike was wind-aided, as the Braves and Ospreys battled gusts of up to 50 miles per hour throughout the morning. The start time of 11 a.m. was moved up an hour to 10 a.m. with the expectation of inclement weather Sunday in Evansville.

The Bradley defense did a solid job playing against the wind in the first half. The Braves did not allow any of North Florida's four shots to reach sophomore goalkeeper Drew Van Kampen (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley H.S.). Van Kampen didn't earn a save, but did record his third shutout of the season. Defenders Brad Snook (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central) and Grant Campbell (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) played the full 90 minutes.

Junior Justin Bigelow (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb H.S.) added insurance for the Braves with a goal in the game's final minute. Trailing 1-0, North Florida moved all 11 players forward for a corner kick in the 90th minute. After the Braves defended the attack, Bigelow dribbled the ball more than half the length of the field, racing the North Florida defense and the clock to hit an empty net with two seconds remaining for a 2-0 Bradley lead.

Bradley had several opportunities in the first half to take an early lead, taking nine shots, three of which went on goal. Freshman forward Christian Meza (Carpentersville, Ill./Dundee-Crown H.S.) hit the cross bar with a drive in the 43rd minute.

After splitting the two tournament games, the Braves will hit the road again next weekend, visiting Xavier for the first time in program history on Friday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.
