Bids for the Braves, Kalmer Tribute Deadlines Near

PEORIA, Ill. -- Only a limited time remains to register for two upcoming Bradley Athletics events, Saturday's Bids for the Braves Auction and the Sept. 28 brunch tribure to retired Bradley Baseball head coach Dewey Kalmer.

 

Guests have until noon Friday to make their reservations for Saturday night's Bids for the Braves Dinner Auction.  This year's auction is entitled “A Summer Night in September” and will feature a Jimmy Buffet theme Saturday night at the Par-A-Dice Hotel Ballroom in East Peoria.  Tickets are $60 and may be purchased through the Braves Club Office at Shea Stadium (309-677-2667) until noon Friday.  Doors will open at 6 p.m. Saturday and cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served throughout the night.  The live auction, which once again will be emceed by the Voice of Bradley Basketball, Dave Snell, will begin at 7:30.

 

Magnificent vacation packages, once-in-a-lifetime sporting event opportunities, sports memorabilia treasures and unique household items all will be available to the highest bidder during the fifth annual Bids for the Braves Dinner Auction Sept. 20 at the Par-A-Dice Hotel Ballroom. 

 

A complete listing of items available can be found online at www.BradleyBraves.com.  Proxy bids for those unable to attend the event may be made in advance by contacting the Braves Club Office.

 

Among the items available during the live auction are a private plane trip for four to Chicago for the Dec. 22 Monday Night Football game between the Bears and Green Bay Packers, an opportunity to spend the day with veteran Major League pitcher Brian Shouse, unique opportunities to interact with the Bradley men's basketball staff and the chance to throw out the first pitch prior to a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field.  Several vacation packages also are available in both the live and silent auctions, including the use of private condos and homes in Florida, the South Carolina coast, Las Vegas and Hawai'i.

 

Following the Bids for the Braves Dinner Auction, the next event on the Bradley Athletics calendar of events is the Dewey Kalmer Tribute Brunch.  Guests have until Monday afternoon to RSVP for the Sept. 28 event, which will pay tribute to longtime Bradley Baseball coach Dewey Kalmer, who retired in June after 29 years with the Braves.

 

Tickets for the brunch, which will begin at 11 a..m. Sept. 28 at the Bradley University Michel Student Center, are $30 for adults and $15 for children and may be purchased by contacting the Bradley Baseball Office at Shea Stadium (309-677-2671).  Guests also may RSVP online at the Bradley Athletic Department's official home page, www.BradleyBraves.com.
