The inaugural Bids for the Braves Athletic Benefit is less than two weeks away and the auction program is now available for viewing online by clicking the PDF link at the bottom of this article. The Bids for the Braves Athletic Benefit will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Par-A-Dice Hotel and Casino Ballroom.
The Bids for the Braves Gala will replace the Bids for the Braves Auction and Bradley Basketball Pre-Season Gala, but will continue to feature many of the activities that made both events special in a single, unique presentation.
"The combination of the two events allows us to mesh the excitement and festivities of the Bids for the Braves Auction with the history and tradition of the Pre-Season Gala," said Braves Club Director Jeff Baldwin. "At the same time, this concept offers a financial reprieve for our loyal fans who annually attend both events. This is one way of creating a new and exciting event, but at the same time giving back to those supporters who have been with us for so many years.
"Although it is the combination of two annual events, don't be fooled into thinking this will be something you have seen before," added Baldwin. "This is a brand new event with new ideas and surprises bound to leave all our attendees excited about the year ahead."
Tickets for the Bids for the Braves Gala will be $90 and are available for purchase through the Braves Club Office (309-677-2667) at Shea Stadium. Emceed by veteran Voice of the Braves Dave Snell, the evening's festivities will include dinner and cocktails, live and silent auctions, the opportunity to mingle with Bradley student-athletes and coaches, the introduction of the 2009-10 Bradley men's and women's basketball teams, the presentation of Snell's popular men's and women's basketball preseason videos and remarks from head coaches Jim Les and Paula Buscher. In addition, the Par-A-Dice is offering a discounted room rate of $95 for Bids for the Braves Gala attendees.
Tickets for each of the 2008 events were $60, meaning the combined event this year will provide a 25 percent savings for those supporters who planned to attend both events. Together the two events have generated in excess of $100,000 to benefit Bradley Athletics.
