Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Senior Amy Reichel (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) tallied 11 kills, but Missouri State hit .347 as a team and held a 9-1 edge in blocks as the Braves fell 16-25, 9-25, 14-25 to the Bears Saturday in the final road match of the season.
Reichel notched seven of her team-best 11 kills in the opening set. Bradley (9-21 overall, 0-16 MVC) trailed 10-8 in the first set when Missouri State (19-9 overall, 12-4 MVC) used a 6-2 spurt to push the advantage to 16-10. The Braves would trim the MSU lead to five points, but would get no closer as the Bears committed just one attack error in the set en route to a 25-16 opening set win.
Missouri State jumped out to a 10-1 lead in the second set and never looked back as the Bears cruised to a 25-9 victory.
The Braves held an early 7-3 lead in the third set before Missouri State would come roaring back. The Bears went on an 11-2 run, behind three kills from Sara Staubach, to build a 14-9 lead. After a kill by junior Caitlin Staib (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) cut the MSU lead to 14-10, Missouri State used a 6-1 spurt to push the advantage to 20-11. Missouri State would go on to close out the match with a 25-14 win.
Reichel led the Braves with 11 kills, while junior Melissa Collins (Manchester, Mo./Parkway South) added six kills. Sophomore Rachelle Dejean (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) led Bradley's defensive efforts as she tied for match-high honors with 13 digs.
Addie Foley collected 14 kills and attacked at a .429 clip to lead Missouri State. Cara Hackmann paced three Missouri State players in double figures in digs as she tied for match-high honors with 13 digs. Shayla Patrick recorded six kills and hit .455, while posting a match-high five blocks.
Bradley returns to action Friday, when the Braves play host to Drake at 7 p.m. at the Markin Family Student Recreation Center to open the final homestand of the 2009 season.
