Women?s Golf Earns Academic Honor From NGCA

Women?s Golf Finishes 40th At Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Freshman Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) and senior Bari Erais (Lethbridge, Alberta/Lethbridge Collegiate Institute) tied for low-round honors for the Bradley women's golf team with final round 80's to help the Braves to a 40th place finish at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic on the par-72 Oak Point Golf Course at the Oak Point Golf Club Tuesday.

Bradley entered the day in 38th place, but shot a 331 in Tuesday's final round to finish five shots out of 37th place. Erais was the Braves top finisher in the event, tying for 103th at 240 following her final round 80. Amundrud was one shot behind Erais in a tie for 115th at 241 after her third-round 80 to complete action in the largest collegiate women's golf tournament.

Sophomore Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) fired an 85 Tuesday to finish tied for 161st at 250, while sophomore Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) shot an 86 for the second consecutive round to tie for 201st at 266. Freshman Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) rounded out play for the Braves with a 98 and placed 210th at 275.

The tournament is the largest in NCAA women's golf history and featured 21 teams ranked in the top 100 according to Golfweek. Miami (Fla.) and Central Arkansas shared the team title with a three-round total of 904. The Braves finished 40th in the 43-team field with a three-round score of 994 following Tuesday's round of 331.

Bradley was five shots behind 37th-place Old Dominion (989) and just four back of Missouri Valley Conference rival Southern Illinois (38th - 990), while Bucknell edged the Braves by one shot for 39th at 993. Mercer was two shots behind Bradley in 41st at 996, with Marshall (42nd - 1007) and The Citadel (43rd - 1043) rounding out the field, respectively.

The Braves return to action March 6-8 at the Duramed Collegiate Invitational at Rio Verde in Rio Verde, Ariz. Live stats for the Duramed Collegiate Invitational at Rio Verde will be available at www.golfstat.com
