PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's basketball team must wait until Sunday evening to learn its postseason fate, but the Department of Athletics already is making preparations to host a first-round game in the event the Braves (18-14) are selected to participate in one of three events: the National Invitation Tournament, the College Basketball Invitational or the inaugural CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
If Bradley is selected as a first-round host for any of the three tournaments, the Braves would host that game on Wednesday, March 18 at the Peoria Civic Center's Carver Arena (game time TBA). Ticket prices will be the same for all three tournaments: $30 (Club Level), $25 (Priority I), $20 (Priority II), $14 (Priority III) and $9 (Priority IV). Bradley University students will be able claim tickets at no charge, courtesy of the Braves Club, by presenting a valid student ID at time of pickup.
Should the Braves be selected as a first-round postseason host, season-ticket holders and students may begin claiming their 2008-09 regular-season seats at the Shea Stadium Box Office Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Unclaimed season-ticket holder seats will go on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Shea Stadium Box Office, the Carver Arena Box Office or online at www.BradleyBraves.com. Regular-season open seats also will be available to the general public online beginning Monday morning.
Bradley has previously hosted 11 postseason tournament games at Carver Arena, averaging 7,794 fans in those games. The crowd of 9,014 against Tulsa in the second game of the 2008 CBI championship round set the program's postseason record for home attendance, was the largest crowd of the 17 CBI games and was larger than the attendance figure from the 2008 NIT championship game.
Bradley will enter “Selection Sunday” with an 18-14 overall record, a 10-8 Missouri Valley Conference record that helped the Braves to a solo fourth-place finish in the nation's ninth-ranked league and a current No. 99 ranking in the Ratings Percentage Index. This year's addition of the 16-team CollegeInsider.com Tournament makes 129 postseason spots available to the 343 teams (37.6 percent) that compete at the NCAA Division I level.
The Braves are hoping to play in the postseason for a fourth consecutive season, which would equal the longest streak in program history. Bradley has won seven postseason games since 2006, tied for the eighth-best total in the country the last three years.
