Women?s Golf Takes Third At Saluki Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Freshman Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) turned in her first top 10 finish of the spring and was one of three Bradley golfers in the top 11 as she helped lead the Bradley women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Saluki Invitational Monday at the par-72 Hickory Ridge Golf Course.

Amundrud picked up her third top-10 finish of the year, tying for third in the field of nearly 100 competitors with a 36-hole score of 155. She finished three shots behind individual medalist Kate Laegeler of Southern Illinois (152), following her final round 77.

Senior Bari Erais (Lethbridge, Alberta/Lethbridge Collegiate Institute) collected her team-leading fifth top-10 finish of the year after shooting a second-round 81. Erais was four shots behind Amundrud in a tie for ninth place at 159. Sophomore Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) fired her lowest round of the spring with a final round of 77 to climb into a tie for 11th at 160 in the final standings.

Freshman Keegan Ryan (Groveland, Ill./Morton) rounded out the team scoring for the Braves Monday with an 80 to move into 77th at 180. Sophomore Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) and freshman Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) each carded rounds of 83 during Monday's play. Deeken tied for 29th at 165, while Gorman was five shots back at 170 in a tie for 48th.

Missouri Valley Conference rival Drake won the team title with a two-round total of 630. Ball State finished four shots behind the Bulldogs in second place at 634, edging Bradley by two shots. The Braves carded a 315 Monday and finished with a team total of 636 to finish three shots ahead of tournament-host Southern Illinois (4th - 639).

Murray State placed fifth (643) and was followed by Indiana State (6th - 646). Austin Peay shot 329 both days to finish seventh overall at 658 to finish one shot ahead of eighth-place finisher Eastern Illinois (659). MVC foe Creighton was ninth (661), while Western Illinois rounded out the top 10 at 667. SIU Edwardsville (11th - 668) and IPFW (12th - 698) completed the NCAA Division I teams in the field, respectively.

Bradley returns to action Sunday when the Braves open play at the 2009 Hotels at Grand Prairie Collegiate Classic at WeaverRidge Golf Club. The two-day, 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on Sunday and one round of play Monday.
