PEORIA, Ill. - With just six games remaining, Tampa Bay Rays' relief pitcher Brain Shouse's earned run average continues to drop. Shouse has given up only one earned run and three hits in his last 10 appearances. During this three-week span, his ERA has dipped from 5.11 to 4.73.
Shouse pitched 0.2 scoreless innings and struck out one Monday night, as the Rays edged the Baltimore Orioles 7-6. Tampa Bay has won seven of its last 10 games, but was eliminated from American League Wild Card contention last week. Shouse and the Rays will host the New York Yankees in the final three-game series of the season this weekend.
