PEORIA, Ill. - Bradley junior forward Bryan Gaul (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) continued his torrid scoring pace by contributing to all three goals for the home side, leading the Braves (6-7-1, 1-2-0 MVC) to a 3-1 Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer victory versus Central Arkansas (3-9, 0-3 MVC) in front of 1,240 Homecoming fans Saturday night at Shea Stadium.

Gaul scored both of Bradley's two first-half goals in a span of 2-minutes, 51-seconds, then assisted Keegan Balle's insurance goal in the 69th minute.  After playing in the back line for the entire 2009 season, and in the midfield for the majority of the first third of this year, Gaul was moved up top five games ago and he has registered at least one point on a goal or an assist in each of those five games.

Bradley dominated the first half of play, outshooting the visiting Bears 14-2 with a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks in the first 45 minutes.  It took until the 37th minute, however, before the hosts broke on top.  With the ball pinging around in front of the UCA goal, Gaul finished off the flurry from eight yards out on the right side at 36:06.  Midfielder Aodhan Quinn picked up his team-leading sixth assist of the year on the play to equal Bradley's school record for assists in a season by a freshman.

In the 39th minute, Gaul rocketed home his team-leading ninth goal of the year, and third game-winner.  The chance started when sophomore Jochen Graf intercepted a UCA clearance on the left flank near midfield and played the ball back into freshman Wojciech Wojcik in the middle of the Braves attack.  From the top of the "D", Wojcik sent the ball back out wide, allowing Gaul to run on and rip a shot from the top of the box on the left side that sailed through UCA keeper Greg Brooks' arms at 38:57.

Gaul even contributed to UCA's goal in the 60th minute when a ball he was attempting to collect in the penalty area spun off his knee and hit his arm for a handball call that gave the Bears a penalty kick.  Ethan Miller buried the PK into the right side for his second tally of the year at 59:30.

But the Bradley striker redeemed himself in the 69th minute.  The result of a restart situation, the Braves got several touches on the ball in front of the UCA net before Gaul deflected the ball to Balle, who finished for his second goal of the year at 68:44.

Maintaining its early pressure throughout the match, Bradley finished the game with a 24-6 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.  In addition to the penalty kick, the Bears managed only one other shot on goal in the game, an 8-yard back heel by Jordan Prescott in the 23rd minute that Braves keeper Brian Billings easily saved.

The Braves will return to action Wednesday afternoon when they visit Eastern Illinois for a 2:30 p.m. Valley game in Charleston.  Bradley will host Evansville Oct. 24 in a 2 p.m. kickoff at Shea Stadium.  Sunday's game against the Purple Aces will be part of Community Care Day at Shea Stadium as fans will receive free admission by making a donation to the charity of their choice by visiting the charity's table at the Shea Stadium entrance.  Bradley Basketball fans also may use their ticket to that night's Red-White Scrimmage for free admission to the game against Evansville.
