PEORIA, Ill. -- In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Bradley Volleyball team will be joining schools from around the country helping raise awareness with the Braves third annual Dig for the Cure initiative.  Fans can make donations and pledges at each of Bradley's final six home matches to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

The event will start when the Braves open a three-match homestand Friday at 7 p.m. against Creighton and continue through the final home game on Nov. 13 against Indiana State.  Pledge forms will be available at each of BU's six remaining home matches or fans can make their donation by filling out the attached pdf.

"In addition to raising funds to help try to find a cure for breast cancer, this event and similar ones across the country continue to raise awareness for a disease which has impacted so many people's lives," third-year Bradley volleyball head coach Sean Burdette said.

The Braves will make a check presentation to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation when they host Indiana State, Saturday, Nov. 13 at Renaissance Coliseum in the final home match of the 2010 season.  For more information or to obtain a pledge form, please contact Mary Lou Janssen at (309) 677-3617 or mlj@bradley.edu.

Following Friday's match against the Bluejays, Bradley's three-match homestand continues Sunday with a noon contest against Drake and wraps up Tuesday with a 6 p.m. match against Chicago State in the final non-conference match of the season.

Junior Rachelle Dejean (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) enters the weekend needing 20 digs to pass Briony Hammet for 13th on Bradley's career digs list and is 40 digs from becoming the 13th player in program history to record 1,000 career digs.  Senior Melissa Collins (Manchester, Mo./Parkway South) is 13 kills from taking over 25th on Bradley's career kills list, while junior Megan Schmidt (Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic) needs 12 kills to move up two spots on BU's career chart into 28th.

Junior Annie Cave (Easton, Ill./Illini Central) has played a bigger role in Bradley's offense lately, averaging 3.23 kills per set and hitting .262 over the Braves last five matches.

Creighton enters Friday's contest tied with Missouri State for second in the Valley standings with a 7-2 league record (12-7 overall).  Drake has a league-best 19 wins (19-5 overall, 4-5 MVC) heading into a Friday night match at 14th-ranked Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  The Bulldogs are sixth in the Valley standings going into Friday's match against the league-leading Panthers.
