PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior guard Dodie Dunson (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington/Vincennes University) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley men's basketball team to a pair of victories last week.
Dunson averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.5 steals, while shooting 53 percent (8-for-15) from the field in two home wins. He started the week with four points, eight assists, two rebounds and a steal in BU's 64-55 win against Jackson State. Dunson capped the week with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with six boards, six assists and two steals in a 73-65 victory against Detroit. A social work major, Dunson owns a 3.69 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Dunson and the Braves return to action Wednesday night when Bradley opens Missouri Valley Conference play with a 6:05 p.m. (CST) game at Indiana State.
