PEORIA, Ill. - The Bradley women's tennis team had a 2-0 lead against Chicago State, but the Cougars rallied to win four of the last five singles matches en route to a 4-3 victory at the Clubs at River City South Saturday afternoon.
The Braves opened the match with two doubles wins to claim the doubles point. Seniors Kelly Donohue (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) and Jessica Buterbaugh (Paradise Valley, Ariz./Chaparral H.S.) beat Lina Tejoprayitno/Peggy Moore 8-5 at the No. 2 spot, while freshmen Kennedy Scott (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports School) and Brigitte Graf (Double Oak, Texas/Faustina Academy) won their No. 3 match by default. Bradley's No. 1 duo of junior Nicole Miller (Glendale Heights, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) and senior Emily Regenold (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton H.S.) fell to Golda Rubina/Dian Mayasari 8-2.
At No. 5 singles, Scott earned her team-best fourth win of the season with a 7-6 (2-0), retire decision over Moore. Graf also earned a singles victory by default at the No. 6 spot. Chicago State swept No. 1-4 singles as Mayasari defeated Miller (6-3, 6-1), Lina Tejoprayitno shutout Regenold (6-0, 6-0), Lia Tejoprayitno beat Donohue (6-2, 6-0) and Rubina outplayed Buterbaugh (6-1, 6-3), respectively.
Bradley (2-3) will close out the weekend Sunday with a 2 p.m. match against Saint Louis.
