JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sophomore Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) fired a two-over par 73 and junior Breanne Neufeld (Coaldale, Alberta/Coaldale) shot a final round 76 as the duo helped the Bradley women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Jacksonville Classic Tuesday at the par-72 Hidden Hills Country Club.
Amundrud entered the day six shots behind the individual leader, but finished four shots off the lead after her second-round 73 to finish in fifth place at 148. Neufeld followed up Monday's opening round 77 with a 76 on Tuesday to move up one spot in the final standings to seventh place (153).
Junior Caitlin Deeken (California, Mo./California) was five shots better on the final day of play, carding an 81 to finish in a tie for 40th at 167. Freshman Natalie Wisniewski (Williamsville, N.Y./South) finished two shots behind Deeken in a tie for 42nd place at 169 after shooting an 86 and sophomore Keegan Ryan (Groveland, Ill./Morton) tied for 50th at 178 to round out play for the Braves with a final round of 90.
The Braves were five shots better in the final round (316) than Monday's opening round 321, but slipped into sixth in the final team standings. Three-time National Junior College Athletic Association national champion Daytona State College took the team title, finishing at 20-over par 596. Stetson was second at 610 with Cincinnati rounded out the top three at 625.
Samford was six shots behind the Bearcats in fourth at 631, while Florida Gulf Coast edged out Bradley for fifth place at 635. The Braves were sixth in their first tournament of the spring at 637, finishing seven shots ahead of tournament-host Jacksonville (7th - 644). Bethune-Cookman closed out play in eighth place (649) and Presbyterian followed in ninth (656). North Dakota was 10th (694) and South Dakota completed the field in 11th (791).
