PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior pitcher/outfielder Amanda Clack (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro) and junior catcher Kate Singler (Witt, Ill./Nokomis/Heartland C.C.) were both named to the all-tournament team at last week's Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces, N.M. announced Friday.
The duo accounted for 12 of Bradley's 32 hits and drove in 13 of the Braves 19 runs during tournament play as BU posted a 3-2 record.
Clack hit .400 (6-for-15) with six RBI and two runs scored at the plate, while also factoring in all three of Bradley's win in the circle during last week's tournament. She went 2-0 with a save, while posting a 1.70 ERA in 12.1 innings of work. For the week she scored or drove in eight of Bradley's 19 runs and all six of her hits and RBI came with two outs. She tossed the first complete game shutout of her career against preseason Horizon League favorite Cleveland State, giving up one hit and striking out four.
At the plate, she was 2-for-3 with three RBI against the defending Horizon League Pitcher of the Year to help Bradley to an 8-0 win against the Vikings. After a 1-for-2 effort against St. Mary's (Calif.), Clack was 1-for-4 with an RBI and picked up her first save of the season in a 4-2 victory against tournament-host New Mexico State. She capped the week with a 2-for-4 outing with a run scored and two RBI in a 5-3 win against Weber State. She drove in what proved to be the game winning run with a two-out, two-run single in the top of the fourth inning in addition to picking up a complete game victory in the circle.
Singler hit .400 (6-for-15) with three home runs and seven RBI in the five games. She boasted a 1.000 slugging percentage and tied for team-best honors with a .471 on base percentage in the Braves first-ever trip to the state of New Mexico. Singler went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Bradley's 8-0 victory against preseason Horizon League favorite Cleveland State and was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 4-2 win against tournament-host New Mexico State.
She went 1-for-2 with the Braves' lone RBI against 22nd-ranked Tennessee and Singler capped the week with a 2-for-4 effort with a three-run homer in a 5-2 victory over Weber State. For the season, she leads the team with a .414 batting average and also leads the squad in runs (8), home runs (4) and RBI (12).
Singler takes home all-tournament honors for the second consecutive week, after earning the distinction at the season-opening Louisiana Classics. Joining Singler on the all-tournament team at the Louisiana Classics were freshmen pitcher Brandi Ore (Versailles, Ky./Paul Laurence Dunbar) and infielder Taylor Cox (Loveland, Colo./Andover [Kan.]).
Bradley is idle this week, but returns to action next Friday when the Braves open play at the Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla., against Temple at 8:30 a.m. (CST).
