Box Score COLUMBIA, Mo. - Sophomore Jackie Roth (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) gave Bradley a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the top of the second inning, but 21st-ranked Illinois rallied for five runs in the fifth to top the Braves 5-1 Saturday at the Children's Hospital Invitational.  Bradley's second game of the day against New Mexico was cancelled.

Roth gave Bradley (9-8 overall) an early 1-0 lead with a one-out homer to left field in the top of the second inning to give Bradley a 1-0 lead.  The home run was the first of Roth's career.

The Braves managed just two other hits off Illinois starter Pepper Gay and the Illini (16-1) pushed five runs across in the bottom of the fifth inning to rally for their 10th consecutive victory.

Junior pitcher Katie Dennis (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite) limited a high-powered Illinois offense to just one hit in the first four innings, before the Illini broke through for five runs on just three hits.  Meredith Hackett led off the bottom of the fifth with a single and Illinois had runners at first and second with one out, when Danielle Zymkowitz tied the game with a run-scoring single up the middle.

The Illini had the bases loaded with two outs when Danielle Vaji raced home on a wild pitch to give Illinois a 2-1 lead.  Audrey Gallien drew a walk to load the bases and Jessica Davis provided the big hit in the inning with a two-out, three-run double to left as Illinois pushed its advantage to 5-1.

Bradley managed a two-out single in the sixth inning and threatened in the seventh after Roth reached on an error and freshman Taylor Cox (Loveland, Colo./Andover) drew a two-out walk, but the Braves were unable to push another run across as Illinois rallied for the 5-1 victory.

Dennis suffered the loss in the circle for Bradley, striking out four and walking two in four and two-third innings.  She fell to 2-3 on the year with the loss.  Freshman Mackenzie Camp (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone) pitched one-and-one-third innings in relief of Dennis.  Gay fanned seven Bradley hitters and scattered three hits in six innings of work as she improved her record to 7-0 on the year.

The Braves are scheduled to close out play at the Children's Hospital Invitational Sunday at noon against New Mexico.
