Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley held leads in both games, but Creighton rallied from behind in both contests to sweep a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader from the Braves Saturday at Laura Bradley Park.  The Bluejays scored six two-out runs in the top of the seventh to post a 7-3 win in the opener and erased a 3-0 BU lead in the nightcap to take game two by the score of 7-4.

In the opening game, Bradley (15-27 overall, 5-14 MVC) capitalized on two Creighton errors for a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.  Junior Brittany Fairbairn (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East/Kankakee) drove in the first run of the game with a bases loaded infield single.  Another run later scored when junior Kate Singler (Witt, Ill./Nokomis/Heartland) scored on a Creighton error.  The Braves had the bases loaded with one out, but left the bases loaded in the first inning

Creighton (27-18 overall, 12-5 MVC) struck for an unearned run in the top of the fourth inning to pull to within 2-1.  With runners at second and third and one out, Jessi Jadlowski drove in the Bluejays first run with an RBI groundout to the left side of the infield.

Two more Creighton errors in the bottom of the fifth inning led to another unearned run for Bradley.  Freshman Taylor Cox (Loveland, Colo./Andover [Kan.]) reached on an error to open the inning and senior Amanda Clack (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro) followed with a single.  Senior Janay Mitchell (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) drew a walk to load the bases and the Braves scored on a suicide squeeze to take a 3-1 lead.  The Braves left a pair of runners on base, however, leaving the door open for Creighton to rally.

Jadlowski opened the top half of the seventh with a single, before junior Katie Dennis (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite) retired the next two batters and appeared to be on the way to her sixth victory of the season.  Amy Baker followed with a double to put runners at second and third and Dennis had a 3-2 count on Michelle Graner, when Graner ripped a two-run single through the left side of the infield to tie the score at 3-3.

The Bluejays weren't done, however, scoring four more two-out runs to take the opener 7-3.  A Bradley error allowed the go-ahead run to cross and Christa Ruf had a two-run triple down the right field line.  Ruf later scored on a bunt single by Ashley Frutos to give Creighton a 7-3 advantage.

Creighton's Tara Oltman retired the Braves in order in the seventh inning to close out the game as she improved to 22-9 on the year with the victory.  Dennis gave up just two earned runs (seven runs) and scattered 10 hits in the complete game loss to fall to 5-7 on the season.

Bradley jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the nightcap, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Cox drew a walk to lead off the inning and came around to score after a Singler walk and bunt single.  Senior Jacqueline Vitale (Indian Head Park, Ill./Lyons Township) drove in Singler with a base hit to center and Mitchell raced home on a squeeze bunt to give BU a 3-0 lead.

The Bluejays answered with three runs in the top of the second to tie the score at 3-3.  Ruf followed back-to-back singles to start the inning with a run-scoring double and Creighton scored two more runs in the frame on a pair of wild pitches to tie score.

Two more runs in the top of the fourth inning gave the Bluejays a 5-3 advantage.  Frutos followed a Bradley error and Ruf single to open the inning with a bloop single to right to score a run.  Creighton added another run with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Michelle Koch.

Bradley got one run back in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Sophomore Alison Kresl (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) had a one-out single and pinch runner Megan O'Malley (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) moved to second on an illegal pitch.  O'Malley moved to third on a groundout and scored on an infield single by Cox to trim the Bluejays lead to 5-4.

The Braves would get no closer though as Creighton put the game out of reach with two runs in the top of the sixth.  Frutos had a one-out single and pinch runner Danai Martin scored on a Jadlowski double.  Defending MVC Player of the Year Renae Sinkler capped a 4-for-6 day at the plate with a single up the middle to plate Jadlowski from third and give Creighton a 7-4 lead.

Oltman (23-9) entered the game to start the fourth inning for the Bluejays and pitched the final four frames as she picked up her second win of the day.  She struck out five and gave up one earned run, while scattering four hits over her four innings.  Freshman Mackenzie Camp (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone) suffered the loss for Bradley, surrendering five hits and five runs (three earned) in three innings of work as she fell to 0-6 on the year.

Clack led Bradley offensively, going 3-for-7 with two runs scored at the plate, while also pitching 1.1 scoreless innings in relief.

Bradley and Creighton close out the three-game Valley series Sunday with a single game at noon at Laura Bradley Park.
