WICHITA, Kan. - With a steady rain falling in southeastern Kansas, the start of the 2010 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship at Eck Stadium has been delayed, which likely will force a late start for the Bradley-Illinois State matchup in Game 2.
The tournament's opening game between third-seeded Indiana State and second-seeded Creighton was slated to begin at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning. The teams are now hoping for a 10:05 a.m. start. Once the rain does subside, play should begin almost immediately as the only dirt on Tyler Field's new surface is located on the pitching mound. The rest of the field, including the base paths and batters boxes, was converted to GameDay Grass by AstroTurf during the offseason.
Wichita State and the Missouri Valley Conference are operating a "Tournament Central" website at http://www.mvc-sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=7600&ATCLID=204948153 and free video streaming of the tournament's first 14 games are available online at www.mvc-sports.com. Additionally, Bradley Associate AD for Communications Bobby Parker will "tweet" updates on the Bradley Athletics Twitter page, www.Twitter.com/BradleyBraves.
