PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore outside hitter Madelyn Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Tuesday after helping the Bradley volleyball team to a second-place finish at the season-opening Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational.

Ervin was named to the all-tournament team at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invite after helping lead the Braves to a 2-1 record.  She paced Bradley in kills in two of three matches and averaged a team-best 2.92 kills per set to go along with a team-high five aces during the opening week of play.  An advertising major, she owns a 3.78 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Ervin and the Braves return to action tonight at 7 p.m. when BU faces Northern Illinois in DeKalb, Ill., in the first road match of the season.  Bradley travels to College Park, Md., this weekend for a tournament where the Braves will face Georgetown, Maryland and Fordham.
