Box Score COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After dropping a tightly contested opening set, Bradley (3-2 overall) rallied to take the final three sets from Georgetown and top the Hoyas in four sets to open play at the Maryland Invitational Friday afternoon.

The Braves, which improved to 3-0 all-time against Big East Conference foe Georgetown, never led in the opening set and found themselves in an early hole after dropping the first set 25-21.  The Hoyas (1-4 overall) hit .382 in the first set and held off a late BU push after Bradley pulled to within two points at 23-21 to take the opener.

BU heated up in the second set, hitting a blistering .444 in the frame.  The Braves used an early 5-1 spurt to build a 10-6 lead.  Georgetown pulled to within two points before Bradley extended its lead to as many as six (17-11) behind a pair of kills from freshman Amy Angelos (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan).  BU went on to even the match with a 25-20 second-set win, which was highlighted by five kills and two blocks by Angelos.

The Braves scored the first four points of the third set and never looked back, extending the advantage to as many as 10 points (19-9).  Senior Caitlin Staib (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) highlighted an impressive 9-2 run with two kills, one ace and one block assist to help BU blow open a three-point margin.  Georgetown pulled to within four points, before the Braves closed out a 25-17 victory.

Much like the third set, Bradley scored the first three points of the fourth set and never trailed in the frame.  The lead was extended to as many as six, before the Hoyas made things interesting with a late push.  The Braves held a 22-21 lead when sophomore Madelyn Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) found the floor with one of her nine kills and a Georgetown attack error set up match point for Bradley at 24-21.  Back-to-back Hoya kills once again trimmed BU's lead to one point (24-23) before Staib ended the contest with her season-high seventh kill of the match to give Bradley a 25-23 win.

Angelos led the Braves with a season-best 11 kills, while attacking at a .500 clip.  She also tallied a team-high four blocks.  Ervin finished with nine kills and no hitting errors on 28 attacks for a .321 hitting percentage.  Staib collected seven kills and three blocks while hitting at a .353 clip to highlight Bradley's offensive efforts.  Junior setter Jennifer Sykes (Racine, Wis./Case/Parkland C.C.) recorded four kills, two aces and eight digs to go along with 38 assists for the Braves.  Bradley hit .299 as a team for BU's best hitting percentage in nearly a year (.305 against Coppin State - 9/12/09).

Kortney Robinson led Georgetown with a match-high 16 kills and was one of three Hoyas to reach double figures in kills.  Bradley forced Georgetown into 27 attack errors, while the Braves committed their fewest attack errors (9) since August 28, 2009.  The Hoyas hit .231 for the match and owned a 66-44 edge in digs, but were also done in by 13 service errors.

Bradley returns to action Saturday when the Braves tournament-host Maryland at 11:30 a.m. (CST) and Fordham at 3:30 p.m. during the second-day of play at the Maryland Invitational.  Free live video streaming for the Saturday morning match against the Terrapins will be available at www.umterps.com
