PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior guard Dodie Dunson (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington/Vincennes University) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after averaging 18.0 points per game in a pair of games last week.
Dunson shot 51.8 percent from the field (14-for-27), including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, and averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games. He matched a career high with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting against Indiana State in a midweek contest. Dunson also had seven boards, two assists and a steal, while connecting on 4-of-8 three-point attempts against the Sycamores. Sunday night against Missouri State, he had 15 points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals. A social work major, Dunson owns a 3.67 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Dunson and the Braves return to action tonight, playing a 7:05 p.m. game at Creighton. The contest against the Bluejays will be televised on WTVP World (over-the-air channel 47.2, Comcast Digitial Cable 218, Mediacom Digital Cable 121).
