ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Freshman outside hitter Courtney Keefe (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week announced by the league office Monday afternoon after helping Bradley to a four-set victory against Indiana State last week.

Keefe averaged 2.50 kills, 4.17 digs and 0.67 aces per set in home matches against I-74 rival Illinois State and Indiana State.  She had four kills, six digs, two assists and a block in two sets against Illinois State, before turning in her strongest performance of the year against Indiana State.

In the match against the Sycamores, Keefe finished with season highs of 11 kills, 19 digs and four service aces for her first career double-doubles.  She entered the match against Indiana State with a total of 13 kills in the previous nine matches, but surpassed her prior season highs of nine kills and 12 digs to help lead the Braves to a 25-27, 25-20, 26-24, 25-18 win.

Keefe is the second Bradley player to earn MVC Freshman of the Week honors this year, joining Madison Kamp (Orland Park, Ill./Chicago Christian) who earned the distinction back on Sept. 6.  Bradley had not had an individual earn MVC Freshman of the Week in the first seven years of the award prior to this season.  Keefe is seventh on the team in kills, while ranking third in aces and fourth in digs this season.

The Bradley volleyball team returns to action Tuesday at Renaissance Coliseum, wrapping up a three-match home stand with a 7 p.m. contest against Loyola-Chicago.
