PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior midfielder Christian Meza (Carpentersville, Ill./Dundee Crown) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after scoring the game-winning goal in last week's match against SIU Edwardsville.
Meza, who was named First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference last week, scored the only goal in last Wednesday's 1-0 victory against SIU Edwardsville in the first round of the State Farm MVC Tournament. Bradley's second-leading scorer this season, he was an MVC All-Tournament selection. An advertising major, Meza owns a 3.11 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Meza and the Braves return to action Thursday at 7 p.m., hosting Loyola-Chicago in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Shea Stadium.
