PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore guard Walt Lemon, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./Julian) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley men's basketball team to a 79-68 victory against Northeastern last week.
Lemon scored a career and game-high 24 points in addition to collecting career bests of five assists and seven steals. His seven steals are the most by a Valley player this season and he connected on 7-of-9 field goal attempts in the victory. Enrolled in Bradley's award-winning Academic Exploration Program, Lemon owns a 3.00 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Lemon and the Braves return to action Thursday, opening a two-game East Coast swing with a 6 p.m. (CST) contest at George Washington, before visiting Drexel on Saturday.
